The Laboratory of Public Health (LPH) is a research unit under the Department of Education and Research in Public Health and Specialties (DERSP) at the University of Sciences, Techniques and Technologies of Bamako (USTTB), Mali. Our mission is to generate evidence-based knowledge to inform public health policies and interventions, with a particular focus on vulnerable populations including women, children, and communities affected by health inequities.
LPH conducts interdisciplinary research across maternal and child health, reproductive health, mental health, and the intersection of climate change and health. We work in close partnership with Mali’s Ministry of Health, international academic institutions including Harvard University and the University of Minnesota, and local civil society organizations.
Our primary target populations include women of reproductive age, adolescents, and communities in rural and peri-urban areas across Mali. We are committed to translating research findings into actionable recommendations, policy briefs, and community-based interventions. Through participatory research approaches, we ensure that the voices of those we serve are central to our work. LPH also contributes to strengthening research capacity in Mali through training and mentorship of early-career researchers.
